Another week, another Supergirl episode full of feels This episode also delivers some fantastic fan service if you ask me. We’ll get to that shortly.
The episode begins with the moment Kara and Mon-El have been dreading. It’s time for the Legion to return home. Now, I’ve been ready for the Legion to go for quite sometime but I feel that it’s too early in the season for them to leave. This is proven true as Imra, aka the most understanding woman in the world, or universe for that matter, tells Mon-El to go back to help team D.E.O. in the fight against Reign just before they make the jump home. Something tells me he isn’t the only Legionnaire who returned but only time will tell. I need more Brainy, especially after his scenes with Winn this week that were so fun.
The continuing deterioration of M’yrnn’s memory is the truly heartbreaking moment of the episode. Although humor is added by M’yrnn rediscovering the mocha by mixing “the 2 brown waters”, it doesn’t take away from the frustration felt by father and son. It’s great for M’yrnn to see that he is still useful though as he steers Kara and J’onn in the right direction with how to try and handle Reign.
Ruby is back this week and she looks much more grown up since the last time we saw her. Where has she been? Lex Luthor’s invisible mansion of course. This is one of those fan service moments I mentioned earlier. The only thing that would have made this better is if the mansion was the same one from Smallville. Ohhhhh well. Alex and Ruby’s relationship has been fun to watch this season but I cringed a couple times watching them this week. And I just want to throw out there. The only reason Reign discovered where Ruby was is because Alex, a secret agent, doesn’t lock her cell phone. I’ll forgive her though because I like Alex.
Speaking of Lex Luthor…time for the major fan service moment that just makes this episode amazing for me. Watch the first minute of the clip above from this episode. Now watch the clip below form Superman: The Movie. The show recreated Lex’s trap for Superman in an epic fashion. This is one of the main reasons I love Supergirl as they are the superior CW show as far as these fan service moments go. Props to the Supergirl production team!
The rift between Kara and Lena is getting bigger and bigger with every episode. I am starting to enjoy this more than the Reign story line because this is a chance to set up what could be an AMAZING fourth season with Lena as the big bad. Currently both women have the right to be mad at each other. Supergirl for the fact that Lena has Kryptonite that she can make which, in my opinion, makes her the smarter Luthor. And Lena for the fact that Supergirl had James break into her lab a week ago. Also, I’ve decided that Lena knows that Kara is Supergirl. What do you all think? As always, share your thoughts with me.
Looks like we’re getting another break from Reign as next week’s episode appears to be all about James wanting to unmask as Guardian to the city. Check out the trailer below.
