It is with great sadness that we have to report that, legendary, comic book writer and editor, Len Wein has passed away.

During a distinguished career in the comics industry, Mr Wein wrote for the big two, DC and Marvel, as well as for Disney comics.  He is known for bringing the comic book world Swamp Thing, creating the character with artist Bernie Wrightson.  For Marvel, he co-created the well-known character of Wolverine.

Some of the DC comic books that he wrote on include the Justice League of America, Action Comics, Detective Comics (in a story where we see Batman being framed for Talia Al Ghul’s murder) and Batman (introducing Lucius Fox), among many others (he also co-created the Clayface character. For Marvel, he wrote on The Incredible Hulk, Thor and The Amazing Spider-Man to name but a few (creating characters such as Storm and Nightcrawler).

After a spell at Disney Comics, Mr Wein wrote and acted as a story editor for various animated television shows, including, Batman, X-Men, Phantom 2040 and Godzilla.  Returning to comics in the late 2000’s, Mr Wein wrote various, one-shot Batman specials for DC’s Retroactive series, along with Green Lantern, before working on the Before Watchmen event, where he wrote Ozymandias.

The above gives us only a slight glimpse in to a most wonderful comic book career and Mr Wein will certainly go down as one of the most important people to have worked in the industry.  If you are a fan of comic books then why not hunt down one of his stories, you will not be disappointed.

All at DC World send our thoughts and prayers to his family and friends at this time.
