DC WORLD HALL OF FAME NOMINEE – BRUCE TIMM

With the recent launch of the DC Universe streaming service, there has never been a better time to enjoy the wonderul world of the DC Aniamted Universe. We all have marvelled at the sheer brilliance of Batman The Animated Series, Superman The Animated Series, Justice League, Justice League Unlimited and Batman Beyond. Wonderful, mulit-layered animated shows that, whilst generally being family friendly, speak to all adult comic book fans in so many ways.

What makes these shows so worthwhile is their continued relevance today. Taken 100% seriously, with voice casts to die for, the influence and legacy of these animated shows cannot be given enough reverance. It is for this reason that I nominate Bruce Timm for this month’s DC World Hall of Fame!

Born in 1961, Timm’s early career in animation took him through the ranks of Filmation, the company responsible for 80’s classic, Masters of Universe. As the 90’s arrived Timm took steps to ensure his legendary status would be cemented forever. He co-created and produced Batman: The Animated Series, which is more popular now than ever before, thanks to its action figure range and imminent Blu Ray release (long overdue). It remains my personal favourite interpretation of the Dark Knight, it is just such a perfect, timeless take on the character that hasn’t been matched since, maybe never will.

From there, he co-created, Superman: The Animated Series, Batman Beyond, Static Shock, Justice League and Justice League Unlimited. Just look at that resume and pick your jaw up off the floor! All killer, no filler. If you haven’t watched every episode of these and adored them, then stop what you are doing and get on it right now!

It would be a travesty if Bruce Timm doen’t get the votes this month. Whilst not a superstar name, his contribution to the world of DC cannot be overstated. Nor will it ever be matched. Please, cast those votes and let Bruce take his place on winner’s row!
