When anyone thinks of DC, besides thinking of Batman and Superman, another name comes to mind: Geoff Johns. And like many others, I am a big fan of his work. Proof: When I saw a rough cut of Justice League last year with other lucky fellow fans of DC, even with a hat on, I immediately recognized him and almost fell out of my seat. Or when I was lucky enough to work on the pilot of Supergirl (while it was still in Los Angeles) he came to set to check things out with Greg Berlanti. That was probably my first “holy crap” moment on a set. I’ll never forget those moments and I hope there will be more to come in the future.

Geoff Johns was born in Detroit, Michigan. He attended Michigan State University where he studied Media Arts, Screenwriting, Film Production, and Film Theory. After college, he moved to Los Angeles finding work as an assistant to Richard Donner on Lethal Weapon 4 and Conspiracy Theory movies. He then quickly moved up. In 2010, he became the Chief Creative Officer (CCO) of DC Entertainment giving him the responsibility to integrate all of DC Entertainment’s characters and stories, not only with DC Comics, but Vertigo and MAD brands in all media aspects. Geoff Johns, as well as being the CCO of DC, continues to write and produce. According to IMBD, he has written 36 movie and television episodes (past and upcoming) and has produced 27 movie and television shows (past and upcoming).

As far as Geoff Johns’ comic book career, it started in 1999 with the comic Stars and S.T.R.I.P.E. and creating the character Stargirl. Since then, his career has spanned over 750(!) comics. And it continues to climb. He has won many awards for his comic book writing. In 2002 he received the Wizard Fan Award for Breakout Talent. In the years 2005 through 2008, he won the award for Writer of the Year. And Comics Buyers Guild (CBG) awarded him Writer of the Year in 2003 through 2005 and again in 2007 and 2008. Also, CBG awarded him with Best Comic Book Series for Justice League of America in 2001 through 2005.
