DCWorld were at Wales Comic Con this weekend checking out the convention for the first time on it’s 10th Anniversary.  Here is the lowdown on the whole experience, and all the DC News.

We had applied for press passes, but ended up buying early entry tickets anyway, because the announcement for press passes wasn’t until a week before the event and we didn’t want to miss out on all the DC goodness!

We arrived at 10.00am which was the early entry time, and were made to queue with all of the Weekend ticket holders.  This was fine, but at other conventions you walk straight in at the time you are given on your ticket.  Here we queued until 10.45am to get in, almost the time general admission started getting in to the event, so personally I was a little letdown by the organisation to begin with and was worried that this was another Rogue Events styled convention.

Once in we went straight through to the signing tent and within 10 minutes (damn good if you ask me) we were talking to Erin Richards (Barbara Kean – Gotham) at her signing desk.  She was great, a really lovely person although, she didn’t get much away for what is happening in the rest of season 4!

After that we had got the one person we were desperate to see so we then spent the day looking around the events merchandise and getting an eye on the rest of the guests at the event.  Also there from DC shows were David Mazouz (Bruce Wayne – Gotham), Sean Pertwee ( Alfred Pennyworth – Gotham) and Matt Ryan ( John Constantine – Constantine/Legends of Tomorrow).

Cosplayers

One of the best things about conventions is checking out all of the awesome cosplayers at the events.  Wales Comic Con was not a let down, and had some great DC Cosplay one show, we did get this one snap of a few DC Cosplayers.  From left to right are Green Arrow, Super Girl, Earth-X Arrow, Black Canary, Batman and The Flash.  Some great costumes here.

Gotham Panel

We did get in and got some very good seats for the Gotham Panel.  There was the general joking around and chit chat, including David’s Batman voice, and a David rap about Batman.  Amongst the fun was also some talk about Gotham.

Nothing was given away, although the Gotham cast did have great praise for Cameron Monaghan (Jerome Valeska / Jeremiah Valeska).  Erin talked about how Cameron is a method actor so she didn’t introduce herself straight away, until he’d finished his first few days.  Sean talked about how he had massive respect for Cameron and wants to be able to do more scenes with him in the future.

Conclusion

Overall we had a great time at the convention and it is a hell of a lot more enjoyable than a lot of previous conventions we went to.  There were some growing pains as the convention seems to have a got a lot more popular from what we have heard from regular attendees, and one of those included the queuing system.

We will be all being well attending Part 2 in December, and hope that it continues to be as thoroughly enjoyable as it was this weekend.
