March 23 – During the first night of WonderCon 2018 panelists Jim Lee, Dan Jurgens, Marv Wolfman (first publish with DC was 56 years ago!), Norm Rapmund, Alex Sinclair, and Jason Fabok answered questions and talked about the upcoming 1,000th Action Comics of Superman out April 19th.

The issue will have the story concept of how Metropolis (and I’m sure many fans as well) say “Thank you” to Superman. “You can’t just take Superman out to dinner,” said Dan Jurgens. Mr. Jurgens also worked on the Action Comics Special #1: The Last Will and Testament of Lex Luther which comes out May 2nd.

Jason Fabok is working on the Man of Steel storyline which is a six issue comic alongside Brian Michael Bendi. A prelude to the series will also be on shelves May 2nd.

Marv Wolfman shared a story of how he saved artwork from being destroyed. He saw giant pieces of artwork that were scraped being taken to be burned. “Artists at that time didn’t want their work. They would hold onto it for twenty-five years but then they needed to make space.” One of the pieces is featured in the 1,000th issue, black and white, just as it was when he took it home.

If you follow Jim Lee on Instagram, you may have seen some behind the scenes looks of what the anniversary edition will hold. There is one word to describe the upcoming issue: trunks. The red trunks are back and the panelists brought them back in style. Each person who attended the panel got a pair of the trunks with the hashtag #thetrunksareback written on the back.

On the 24th, the celebration of Superman continues with the panel of Krypton. The first episode debuted this last Wednesday on SYFY. I was very happy to have watched the pilot and look very forward to the panel and finding else what is in store for the series.
