COMPETITIONS: Cosplay Competition Winner Announcement

After much deliberation, it is time to announce the winner of our Cosplay competition.

We had many entries, but have decided that the winner will be someone that regularly attends the UK comic cons, and a big fan of Penguin/Oswald Cobblepot in Gotham.

You may remember that Claire had an interview with a cosplayer a few months ago, which can be read here.

It is with great honour we are announcing Tyler Cox as our Cosplay Competition.  The battle was close, but Tyler is gaining a lot of exposure with his Penguin cosplays, and we feel it only fair that he is the winner because of all the hard work that goes into his cosplay outfits.

Tyler will be the proud recipient of our Lego Batman cardboard cutout, and a Batman funko, courtesy of Grt4Toys.

We thank you all for your fantastic entries!

SDCC Review

It may have been weeks ago San Diego had its gathering of Geeks and Nerds, but it’s still fresh in the minds of the thousands that attend each year. Many go just to see the exhibits outside the convention center. While hundreds of lucky ones are able to attend panels to see their favorite celebrities from television and film and to get the inside scoops. And according to Anne Marko (from Long Beach, California) and Carrie Baty (from Canoga Park, California) the long lines inside and outside are more than worth the wait.

Anne with the Outlander men. “I’m so happy they caught me!”

Anne has been going to the comic con since 2003. “If you’re planning to go to the con, throw a plan out the window. There is so much stuff to see that you can be overwhelmed even with knowing the schedule.” she advises. For the Game of Thrones exhibit she waited 5 hours in line. “The lines change your plan.”

Carrie for the past seven years has gone to the Nerd HQ paneling which is usually held at the Children’s Museum near the convention center. Zachary Levi monitors the panels and has proceeds of ticket sales and auctions going towards Operation Smile. But due to some difficulties it had to be canceled this year. Although she was sad about not being able to attend NerdHQ, she was able to get a ticket to SDCC through a friend.
They both look at going to SDCC as an annual vacation. And they always look forward to it. But they do have some advice that even the celebrities have said: 1.) Wear comfortable shoes. Even days after the con, their feet were still recovering. 2.) Can’t be claustrophobic. Every place is a crowded place. And many can be smelly. 3.) Bring hand sanitizer. 4.) Bring a backpack for swag. They give huge bags out, but some of them can fall apart with everything they give away. And it’s a LOT of stuff. And 5.) More than anything HAVE FUN!

CONVENTIONS: MCM Manchester on top form, Kid

DCWorld were at MCM Manchester on Sunday to provide you with all the DC gossip from Arrow’s very own Manu Bennett. The DC theme of the day was definitely Deathstroke, with Manu as the star attraction and Deatstroke cosplayers killing it with their awesome costumes.

The convention was held at the Manchester Central Convention Centre, a great location to drive to from the M6. The venue was large, with much going on, but unfortunately there was only one big DC star there, and that was Deathstroke star, Manu Bennett.

It did feel that there were too many people in the building at one point during the day, but fun was had by all as the 5000 Harley Quinn cosplayers were swarming around the event (seriously, can girls not cosplay anybody else?). There were some top costumes, including a great Batman, although for us this Deathstroke that we met early on in the day was the winner of best cosplay at MCM Manchester 2017:

We also met up with the winner of our exclusive Facebook competition to win tickets for MCM Manchester, Ben Wake. He was super excited to get to be amongst it all was loving the cosplayers and stalls around the arena. He bought his Aunt with him to enjoy the fun, with the exclusive priority tickets that he won courtesy of MCM Comic Con!

Ben Wake - MCM Comic Con Manchester Competition Winner

Later in the day we caught a live interview on the MyMBuzz stage with Manu Bennett (coverage of that is coming in the next few days). Where he spoke about the loss of his Mum and brother, his appearances on Arrow in the upcoming series, and also his relationship with Stephen Amell. It’s one your definitely not going to want to miss if you are a fan of Arrow!

Overall, MCM was a great comic con in Manchester, and we will be very excited to attend upcoming events in the future. Keep an eye on our Twitter and Facebook pages for more coverage of the event in the coming days!

DC World Interview with Sarah Douglas at LFCC

Hi all here is my first of many guest interviews from an amazing weekend at London Film and Comic Con at the london Olympia by Showmasters. My first is below with an absolute lovely lady Sarah Douglas from the Superman 1 & 2 Movies as well as other roles. This was a moment I shall hold onto forever as I’m a big Superman fan and meeting any cast members is always a dream. Sarah is really nice and as you shall see a lot of fun too, also a little scoop maybe that Sarah is up for playing a part in the TV series Supergirl and was asked for season 2 but timing was not right, so lets hope we get to see her in an upcoming season soon.

Thank you to Sarah and her management team.

Enjoy and leave a comment below.

SDCC : The Flash Panel Recap

The best weekend of the year, San Diego Comic Con, just ended and brought its lot of exclusives and sneak peeks for 2017 and beyond. DC shows were again strongly represented this year, and CW’s The Flash cast graced the Con with their presence for a very entertaining panel on Saturday, moderated by Stephanie Smith. They didn’t give a lot away (despite Grant Gustin confessing being awful at keeping secrets) but here are a few things we can expect in Season 4:

flash team

More Badass Iris West

Iris takes the lead of Team Flash in Barry’s absence, Candice Patton has confirmed. After an emotionally charged season for Iris, where she nearly died and lost Barry, it’s a very welcome turn for the character to come back to a strong, fierce leading lady who gets things done. According to Candice, Iris is “devastated, and focuses her energy on being a leader.” Interesting fact about season 3: No one except Grant told Candice about her character not dying.

A lighter tone

Producer Todd Hellbing promised “more jokes” in season 4. Season 3 was very dark and allowed characters to develop so much, but yes, a lighter tone is much needed this season!

Killer Frost is back! Or is she?

Danielle Panabaker had a blast on the panel teasing fans about the frosty villain. “No one’s gonna be disappointed” she promised, adding that playing Killer Frost was “so much fun”. Nothing else escaped, her lips were sealed!

Wally West keeps growing

Keiynan Lonsdale (dressed as Where’s Wally – a nice touch!) discussed character growth for Kid Flash. “Wally had to step up when Barry left and this gave him more freedom and more self-confidence. He’s humbler about his role in the team”

New faces

We know The Thinker is the new “Big Bad” this season; The 100’s Neil Sandilands portrays the new villain; whose name is Clifford DeVoe.

Kim Engelbrecht also joins the cast as The Mechanic, the Thinker’s sidekick.

Todd Hellbing also confirmed that we will see more of Gypsy, and her father, The Breacher, who will be played by Machete’s Danny Trejo, no less!
