“Batman’s back, man”

Synopsis “Awakening from his coma to find Gotham in shambles, Bruce Wayne jumps back into the Batsuit immediately. But is his ego writing checks his body can’t cash? Meanwhile, Two Face attempts to forge a criminal alliance with Bane, as they’re the only two Big Bads left in Gotham’s criminal undeworld”
No Harley or Ivy this week but plenty of Batman and Jim Gordon to bring the laughs. When people see this they will not only learn how much fun this show makes of its own universe but also how it listens to its fans. To my knowledge this is the first DC show to first hand mention #ReleaseTheSnyderCut.
Every week I write how funny this series is. Even with the absence of the titular character this week still made me laugh constantly. An episode build by great pairing of characters. Bane and Two Face joining forces delivers disastrous and humerus consequences as your would imagine. The second pair are a favourite of mine from season one. Batman and a very depressed Commissioner Gordon. Chris Meloni and Diedrich Bader are genius comedy actors in live action and have brought so much to the characters.
I tip my hat to the whole Batman’s Back writing team this week. Sarah Nevada Smith gets the official credit for the episode and deserves all the applause. This is her only writing credit for this show and has done an amazing job in picking up perfectly how Jim Gordan would react to seeing his ‘partner’ Batman return. The highlight of this episode was the final dynamic pairing of Batman and Alfred. With his mother like watchful eye on Bruce who has just awoken from a coma battling against the will and determination of someone so stubborn who is desperate to save his beloved city.
MVP
This was a close call but this weeks MVP has to go to the brave and the bold Diedrich Bader. Batman’s back. man. Bringing so much humor to the character without making fun of Batman is a special skill to have. With years of experience voicing Batman, this show gives us a very different version that Bader is used to. We get the ferocious dark knight stalking the criminals of Gotham but with a sharp edge of sarcasm and wit. Its a genuine talent to keep the character true to nature but with that side of fun. The writers deserve credit for the jokes but they would not land or pop the way they do with the timing and execution from a pro like Diedrich Bader.
