Last night many people remembered running home and turning on their televisions to the best thing in their day. Many in the crowd were those who became fans of the show long after the last episode aired. But they all came together for one reason: to pay tribute to a man who will forever be their Batman, Adam West.

The ceremony took place in front of City Hall in Los Angeles, California. Police blocked the street of Spring Street and the crowd of hundreds gathered in front of the steps of the building. Mayor Eric Garcetti was the first to speak. He started his speech, “We don’t gather on these steps very often at night. But when we do it is for a solemn and holy purpose.

Tonight we are going to light up your City Hall for our own bright knight, the legendary Adam West.”

Next to speak was the Los Angeles Chief of Police Charlie Beck whom, along with Mayor Garcetti, lit the bat signal.

Burt Ward said a few words about his dear friend would say to everyone. “We are all on this planet for such a very short period of time. To make the most of everyday you’re here….my friend Adam would want every single one of you to be incredibly happy and to be joyous.”

Last to speak was Ralph Garman, thanking fans for coming out and helping in keeping Mr. West’s legacy alive.

It was a great night for young and old fans alike to come together and give their final salute to man that will be wholeheartedly missed. But will forever be in minds and hearts of those who love for who Mr. West was and what he stood for.
